Helm Completes Temporary COVID Hospital in Chicago

Helm Mechanical was awarded the HVAC portion of the 3,000-bed Alternative Care Facility used to treat patients with COVID-19 in the Chicago area.  Built within McCormick Place Convention Center, the ACF construction was managed by the Army Corps of Engineers and was intended to provide relief for the local healthcare facilities that were struggling to find enough patient rooms for the projected number of patients.  Portions of the project had a 5-day completion deadline and the entire facility was completed in 28 days.
