Saturday evening, Helm Electric was contacted by Divergent Alliance to support emergency storm response efforts in advance of the forecasted Winter Storm Fern impacting North Carolina. Anticipating severe ice conditions and the potential for widespread power outages, the team immediately began mobilizing resources to assist with preparedness and possible restoration.
Within hours, we deployed a fleet of utility and support equipment—including digger derrick trucks, bucket trucks, service vehicles, and utility pole trailers—along with ten line technicians. Crews departed at 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning and staged just outside the affected region overnight to ensure rapid access should conditions worsen.
“I am extremely proud of our team’s willingness and ability to respond quickly and professionally,” said Scott McGinn, Vice President of Helm Electric. “Whether serving our local communities or supporting emergency efforts across the country, our crews stand ready.”
Special thanks to Ted Logan and Adam Sakolari for their leadership and coordination during this response.
