Position Overview

As an IT Support Specialist I, you will provide internal support for employees at our local office and for remote sites.  Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in IT support and a mix of technical and customer service skills, and a passion for technology and helping people.  This role involves supporting PC’s, printers, copiers, VoiP phone systems, and iOS devices.  If you thrive in a dynamic environment where adaptability and teamwork are key, Helm offers the perfect opportunity for you to grow and succeed.

This role is located in our Omaha, NE office and the work hours are 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  This will be the first IT employee located in the Omaha office, so it will be crucial to have clear and open communication with other IT staff in the corporate office in Freeport, IL and other staff in our Westmont, IL office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support to employees via phone, chat, email, and in-person
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems and applications
  • Assist users with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Accurately document incidents, requests, and resolutions in the IT ticketing system
  • Follow established troubleshooting procedures and escalate issues when appropriate
  • Assist with IT projects, hardware deployments, and system refreshes as assigned
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service in all interactions
  • Occasionally travel to company offices or jobsites (personal vehicle required)

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in an IT support, help desk, or technical support role
  • High school diploma required, associate’s degree preferred
  • Solid knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365
  • Familiarity with PC hardware, printers, peripherals, and mobile devices (iOS)
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts (Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, connectivity troubleshooting)
  • Strong communication, customer service, problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple support requests and follow documented processes
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and grow within an IT support environment
  • Must enjoy working with and interacting with people on a regular basis
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network + and CompTIA A+ preferred
  • Experience working with an IT ticketing system preferred
  • Prior experience supporting users in a multi-location or field-based environment preferred
  • Interest in advancing to higher-level IT support or infrastructure roles preferred

Salary & Benefits

Range: $50,000-$60,000 annually
