Position Overview

As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be in a position of responsibility for accounts payable and cash disbursements.  In addition, this position requires some cross training on other accounting department tasks.  If you thrive in a dynamic environment where adaptability and teamwork are key, Helm offers the perfect opportunity for you to grow and succeed.  This role is located in our Freeport, IL office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing accounts payable vendor invoices into our accounting software.
  • Review checks that are written for weekly check runs.
  • Communicating with vendor regarding payment status, invoice requests, and inquiries as needed.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors
  • Monitor A/P invoice approvals are completed in a timely manner.
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies.
  • Contact vendors to obtain necessary documents needed to process invoices such as W9s, payment/bank details, etc.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • College degree preferred, but not necessary
  • 2-5 years’ accounting experience
  • A knowledge of Microsoft office products, primarily Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to interact with a variety of personalities of vendors, customers, and employees
  • A focus on customer satisfaction

Salary & Benefits

Range: $45,000 – $55,000
