Position Overview

As a Helm Project Assistant you will support Project Managers in delivering infrastructure and utility projects, including traffic signals, roadway lighting, and electrical distribution. Responsibilities include procurement, scheduling, documentation, budgeting support, and resource coordination for public sector clients.

This position is for our electrical division which is responsible for the Power, Wiring, and Lighting scopes of work for new construction projects as well as remodel work in buildings such as K-12 schools, hospitals and associated healthcare buildings, high-rise buildings, and other commercial and industrial building types.  This role is located in our Loves Park, IL office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in quantity takeoffs and material buyouts
  • Support procurement processes and track materials
  • Prepare and manage submittals and material compliance documentation
  • Assist in the RFI (Request for Information) process
  • Maintain change order logs and documentation
  • Submit daily and weekly schedules to customers
  • Assist with project resource allocation
  • Review vendor and subcontractor invoices
  • Support project budget reviews and tracking
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Critical thinker with a continuous improvement mindset.

  • Effectively understands and sets priorities.
  • Dependable and driven self-starter with strong self-responsibility.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Outlook, Excel, Word, & Teams.
  • Knowledge of Viewpoint is a plus, but not necessary.
  • Implementation of all Safety requirements.
  • Resourceful and solution-oriented
  • Strong accounting and budgeting knowledge
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Electrical Engineering

Salary & Benefits

Range: $55,000-$70,000
