It’s one thing to say you’re good. It’s another thing to prove it – and, in the construction business, the proof is in the projects. With roots dating back to 1946, Helm’s divisions have completed literally thousands of projects. In this section of our website, we have carefully selected a few of our favorites in a good cross-section representing the work of our many service divisions. The projects in this Explorer are updated frequently, but if you would like to see more of a particular type or discuss a particular project, please contact us. We will be glad to share more.

Dekalb Data Center

Located in the heart of the Midwest, Helm was awarded the contract to provide mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and other specialty services scopes for the DeKalb Data Center. Highly focused on team collaboration the Owner, General Contractor, and Helm began early in the design phase to plan for every aspect of this fast-paced, highly technical project. Helm Mechanical focused on the implementation of our core construction practices for transparent and constant discussions with all trades to produce higher predictability and smoother workflow. At over 2,000,000 square feet and a tight production schedule VDC/BIM coordination among all stakeholders has been a top priority and will continue through the duration of the project. Early construction metrics of the data center include over 320,000 feet of piping and just over 1.3 million pounds of ductwork.

Interstate 88 Paving

Helm recently completed a 9-mile portion of I-88 from Illinois Route 78 to Sand Road which included full depth concrete patching along with polymer Hot Mix Asphalt binder and surface courses. Officially designated an Interstate in the late 1980s, the roadway has undergone a number of improvements over the years.

Central Park Pump Station

Whiteside County Airport Taxiway Rehabilitation

Helm recently completed a taxiway rehabilitation project at the Whiteside County Airport. The project consisted of removing and replacing the existing asphalt surface to a depth of 4-inches according to IDOT Division of Aeronautics specifications.
