- Heavy Opens Gehl Dealership
Heavy Equipment Services is now a Gehl equipment dealership. Gehl offers a line of compact equipment including skid loaders, compact excavators and telescopic handlers. Heavy will sell and rent Gehl equipment to construction and agriculture users and Gehl will provide a nice complement to Heavy’s other offerings.
- Mechanical Buys Pitlor Mechanical
Pitlor Mechanical a 100-year old mechanical contractor based in Omaha, Nebraska was recently acquired by Mechanical Inc. Pitlor performs approximately $25 million in plumbing, HVAC piping, and service work in Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. The company will continue to operate under the Pitlor Mechanical name.
- New Tech Center Open
The Helm Group recently opened their new Technology Center. The facility includes a data center for all infrastructure technology systems, 30 CAD work stations, and a Building Information Modeling Collaboration Center. The Tech Center is located on the company’s Freeport campus.
- Mechanical Inc Wins Great Lakes Safety Award
Mechanical Inc recently won the Safety Achievement Award from the Great Lakes Construction Association for outstanding accomplishments in achieving an exemplary safety record during 2016. With Mechanical’s commitment to safety, a culture of safe work, and dedicated safety personnel, awards like this are welcomed but are not surprising. Mechanical’s EMR is well below industry averages. Commitment to safety is everyone’s job. Thanks to all Mechanical workers for their ongoing commitment to safety.
- Mechanical Inc Partnership with Freeport High School

“Mechanical Inc. is one of the companies that is collaborating with FHS on career opportunities. FHS has a CAD class that closely aligns with the skillset needed for Mechanical. Mechanical appointed an employee to work with the FHS instructor and identify the students that would make good future employees. They then developed a contest for the students and awarded a cash prize to the winners. Mechanical was also able to provide student internships for the summer.”

- Mechanical Inc Plans New IT Building
This Summer, Mechanical Inc will break ground on new IT/ CAD center at its existing campus in Freeport, IL. The new building will be the center of operations for the CAD department. In addition to providing space for new jobs, the building will be used as a tech center for company. See the full story here:

- Civil nominated for 2 AGC Awards
Civil Constructors has been nominated for the AGC New Bridge Construction Award for the US 20 Bypass Bridges and the Bridge Rehabilitation Award for the US6 Coal Creek Bridge. Both projects were recipients of 2015 Certificates of Merit.
- Helm Group EMR at new record of 0.46
The 2016 EMR for the Helm Group companies improved from 0.47 to 0.46, as a result of their proactive approach to safety and claim management.
- Mechanical hosts MCAA Fabrication Conference.
Over 200 contractors from the U.S. and Canada visited Mechanical’s Freeport pipe fabrication shop for a presentation on Best Practices in Fabrication. 15 separate stations were set up to showcase the company’s CAD and fabrication capabilities.
